Facing an 11-9 deficit, Springfield rattled off nine-straight points with Demi Spanos (West Harrison, N.Y.) at the service line as vonKampen accounted for three blocks and a pair of kills in the burst. Spanos completed the 25-16 win as she blistered a ball cross court for her third kill of the night.
In the second, the Pride scored six-straight points in the early going to seize a 7-2 lead. After the hosts pulled within 11-8, vonKampen converted out of the middle to cap off a 5-1 run which gave the Pride 16-9 cushion. Anagabrielle Sanchez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) would later wrap up the 25-18 victory with her second ace of the set.
After consecutive hitting errors by Springfield allowed Mount Holyoke to take an 8-5 lead in the third, Springfield scored the next five points, thank to a pair of aces from Traum, to build a 10-8 edge. The Lyons would get as close as a point on three occasions, the last coming at 21-20 , before a kill from Julia O'Connor (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and back-to-back aces by Labadorf gave Springfield match point. Three points later, Mount Holyoke's 12th service error of the night allowed the Pride to earn the 25-22 win and complete the sweep.
Springfield will compete in the New England Challenge this weekend, beginning with a 7 pm match at Tufts on Friday.
