Boston, Mass. – February 7, 2014 – Gabriella Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.) smashed the school record in the 800 meters to highlight Springfield College’s showing at the 2014 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Running in her first 800 race of the season, Gaudreault finished 10th in a field of 160 runners with a time of 2:09.57. Currently the fastest time in Division III this season, Gaudreault broke Springfield’s indoor 800 record, which was previously held by Heather Cayward, who ran a 2:12.82 in 1993.
Last spring, Gaudreault set the outdoor record in the 800 as she placed fourth at the NCAA Championships with a time of 2:09.80 to earn All-America honors.
Erin Womboldt (Falmouth, Mass.) ran a time of 9.63 in the 60 meter hurdles, winning her heat in the preliminaries. The sophomore also placed 27th in the long jump with a leap of 16-07.75 while Amanda Martin (Bristol, Conn.) took 30th out of 75 competitors in the event with a distance of 16-07.25. Martin recorded a distance of 36-07.50 in the triple jump to finish 17th overall.
The Pride’s 4×400 relay team of Samantha Pomroy (Lebanon, Maine), Colleen Rice (Queensbury, N.Y.) and Kimeisha Winkle (Springfield, Mass.) and Gaudreault ran a 4:03.65, finishing 30th overall in a field of 53 relay teams.
