Springfield, Mass. - December 10, 2018 - Three members of the Springfield College swimming and diving programs were recognized by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for their efforts last Saturday in a dual meet with Middlebury.
Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) was named the NEWMAC Women's Diver of the Week, while teammate Grace Moore (Glastonbury, Conn.) was tabbed the NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. On the men's side, Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) was selected as the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Week.
It marks the fourth time this season that Skaza has been recognized as the Psychology major continues to have a tremendous senior season. On Saturday, she won both events with national-qualifying scores after registering a 269.40 on the one meter and a 283.05 on the three meter.
Moore was honored for the first time in her career as the Physical Therapy major picked up three individual victories on Saturday versus Middlebury. In addition to being a part of the winning 200 medley relay that clocked in at 1:52.28, Moore captured the win in the 50 back with a time of 28.44, touched first in the 100 back at 1:01.07 and claimed first-place points in the 100 IM with a 1:02.47.
Pennington collected the weekly honor for the first time this season as the Computer Graphics and Digital Arts major swept the diving events with two nationally-qualifying marks on Saturday. The sophomore registered a 340.88 on the three meter board and a 310.80 on the one meter.
