Amherst, Mass. - February 4, 2018 - Competing in their final dual meet of the season, the Springfield College women's swimming and diving team was bested by nationally-ranked Amherst College on Sunday afternoon. The Mammoths, who were ranked 10th in the latest national poll, were victorious by a score of 179-109.
Springfield began the afternoon finishing second in the 400 medley relay as Hillary Gallagher (Exeter, R.I.), Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.), Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.), and Monique Forte (Providence, R.I.) took second with a 4:09.11.
Dyjak was the runner up in the 200 freestyle after touching 1:59.44 as well as the 50 fly with a 26.47, while Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) finished third in both the 400 IM (4:36.87) and the 500 freestyle (5:21.19),
Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) was third in the 100 breast with a 1:09.24, while also finishing fourth in the 50 free in 25.53. Shea finished third in the 50 breast with a 31.75 and also had the third-best time in the 100 IM in 1:05.40. In the 50 back, Amelia McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.) placed fourth in 30.5 and Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.) was fourth in the 100 back after touching in 1:05.01. Additionally, racing in the 100 free, Izzy Ripp (Selden, N.Y.) earned second-place points with a 56.67.
Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) was third on the one-meter after tallying a 233.32, closeley followed by Bailee Carey (Quincy, Mass.), who registered a 223.12, which was good enough for fourth place. Skaza would later have the second-best score on the three meter, a 268.65.
Springfield concluded the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay as Dyjak, Cordery, Brianna Magee (Hauppauge, N.Y.), and Paione recorded a 1:40.57.
