Women's Swimming and Diving Takes On Day Two of Ithaca College Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 2, 2017 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team opened up the second day of the Ithaca College Invitational, as the Pride competed in the morning session, hosted in the Aquatics Pavilion at Ithaca College.

Beginning the session with the 200 freestyle relay, the team of Brianna Magee (Happauge, N.Y.), Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine), Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.) and Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) combined for a second-place finish, touching in 1:38.49 and trailing only the relay team from Division-I Cornell University. In the 400 individual medley, Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) finished eighth with a time of 4:42.11, while in the 100 butterfly, Dyjak claimed a third-place finish with a time of 56.94 seconds.

Paione took ninth overall in the 200 freestyle as she was just the second Division III swimmer to touch the wall in the event, clocking in at 1:55.23, before the Pride wrapped up the morning session with the 400 medley relay, as the combination of Hillary Gallagher (Exeter, R.I.), Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.), Dyjak and Paione produced a time of 3:59.51, good for third overall.

In the lone diving event of the day, Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) took sixth overall on the one-meter board, as the junior posted a score of 398.30 points, as Bailee Carey (Quincy, Mass.) took 11th with a total of 364.80 points.

In the evening session, Danielle Hoffner (Bridgewater, N.J.) took ninth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.64, while in the 100 backstroke, Gallagher placed 14th with a time of 1:01.65. Shea took fourth overall in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.65, finishing behind three student-athletes from Cornell. Wrapping up the session, the 800 freestyle relay team of Paione, Lamb, Cordery and Dyjak finished second overall, and first among Division III programs, as they combined for a time of 7:50.99.

Springfield College will resume Saturday's events with the second session, expected to begin at 6 p.m.
