Ithaca, N.Y. - December 1, 2017 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team opened up the 7th Annual Ithaca Invitational on Friday night, as the Pride competed in the 14-team, three-day event in the Aquatics Pavilion. The Pride currently sit in third place with 175 points.
Beginning the night in the 500 freestyle, junior Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) notched a time of 5:09.44 en route to an eighth-place finish, before Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) and Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.) went back-to-back, finishing with marks of 5:16.69 and 5:17.38 respectively. Next, in the 200 individual medley, Paione took eighth again with a time of 2:10.63, finishing before Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.), who finished 15th overall with a time of 2:14.81 and Amelia McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.), who took 16th with a time of 2:14.83.
Graduate student Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) notched a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.93 seconds, while in the 200 medley relay, the combination of Hillary Gallagher (Exeter, R.I.), Shea, Brianna Magee (Happauge, N.Y.) and Dyjak finished seventh with a time of 1:50.70.
Springfield College will compete in the second day of the Ithaca College Inviational on Saturday, December 2, as the first session will begin at 10 a.m.
