Kissimmee, Fla. - March 16, 2018 - The Springfield College softball team finished up its Spring Break trip on Friday morning as the Pride defeated Beloit, 15-7, before knocking off Wisconsin-Lutheran, 4-0, to finish the trip 9-1.
Leading the Pride on Friday was a dominant offensive performance from senior infielder Kirsten Drobiak (Griswold, Conn.), as she totaled seven hits in nine at bats and nine RBI in the two wins. In Springfield's 15-7 victory over Beloit, Drobiak had a career high eight RBI as she went 5-for-5 at the dish, while also blasting her fifth home run of the year. Drobiak would then hit her sixth home run of the week against Wisconsin-Lutheran, and fourth dinger in as many games.
Springfield College will now return to Massachusetts, as its next scheduled games are Wednesday, March 21, a doubleheader with Eastern Connecticut beginning at 3 p.m.

Drobiak powered the Pride to its eighth victory of the season on Friday morning as the senior went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, totaling eight RBI, three of which came on a three-run blast in the top of the sixth inning.
Freshman pitcher Taylor Mancinone (Watertown, Conn.) earned her first-career win as she pitched 3.0 strong frames, giving three hits and two runs while also striking out three. Allie Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) and Shelby Allen (Oakland, N.J.) came on for the final three innings to seal the win.
Springfield College picked up three runs in the top of the first on a two-run double from Drobiak and an RBI single from Alexyss Conley (Bloomingburg, N.Y.), before the Pride added its fourth run in the top of the second on an RBI double to center from Wheeler.
The Pride opened a 7-2 lead in the top of the third on RBI from Carianna Gasdia (Wakefield, Mass.), Wheeler and Drobiak, before pushing its lead to six in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Jackie Baldoni (Watertown, Conn.), making it 8-2.
Springfield College constructed a four-run top of the fifth including a two-run double from Drobiak, before Vargas drove in Patricia Murphy (Wilbraham, Mass.) and later scored on a passed ball to make it 12-2. After Beloit responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, Springfield College picked up three more in the top of the sixth on the homer from Drobiak, sealing the victory after six innings.

Senior pitcher Talia Loda (East Haven, Conn.) bounced back from her first loss of the season in impressive fashion on Saturday, as she pitched a complete game three-hit shutout to improve to 4-1 on the season. In the win, Loda also struck out seven batters.
Springfield College got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning when Meghan Sastram (Oxford, Conn.) roped a double to right center, scoring Wheeler, before the Pride took a 2-0 lead on a single up the middle from Wheeler, scoring Gasdia.
Drobiak homered for the fourth-consecutive game in the bottom of the fifth, before Allen singled to left, plating Wheeler to provide the Pride with some insurance.
From there, Loda locked in as she was able to pick up the last six outs, including a pair of strikeouts to complete the win.
