Men's Cross Country Finishes 15th Overall at Connecticut College Invitational

New London, Conn. - October 14, 2017 - The Springfield College men's cross country team accumulated 386 points en route to a 15th-place finish at the Connecticut College Invtational, hosted at Harkness Memorial State Park on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

The Pride was led by senior Jack Pinho (Prospect, Conn.), who used a 4:56 final mile to record a personal-best time of 25:41.5 on the 8k course, finishing 13th among 282 runners and beating his previous personal record by 25 seconds. Pinho was the second-place runner from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), and seventh-place runner from the New England region.

Following Pinho was Tyler Cronin (Melrose, Mass.), who clocked in at 27:44.3, as the junior was closely followed by Zack Guptill (New Milford, Conn.), who finished in 27:57.8.

Rounding out Springfield College's top five was Johnny Poitras (Somers, Conn.), who notched a time of 28:14.1, as freshman Ryan Vermette (Nashua, N.H.) followed with a time of 28:20.4.

The Pride will spend the next two weeks preparing for the NEWMAC Championships, hosted at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Sunday, October 29.
