New Haven, Conn. - May 16, 2019 - The Springfield College men's track and field team had student-athletes competing at a pair of meets on Wednesday and Thursday, including the ECAC Division III Championships and the MIT Final Qualifier.
Competing in the triple jump at the ECAC Division III Championships on Wednesday, Jarod Authier (Chicopee, Mass.) and Dante Curry (Torrington, Conn.) both earned All-ECAC honors as Authier took fourth with a mark of 13.63 meters, while Curry was sixth with a jump of 13.05 meters.
On Thursday at the ECAC Championships, Authier continued to impress as he had a career-best mark of 6.93 meters in the long jump to take fifth overall, while Curry was 10th with a mark of 6.32 meters.
At the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday evening, Tyler Hansen (Shelton, Conn.) continued to shine in the 100 meter dash, as the junior took second overall with a time of 10.86 seconds, while Ben Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine) took third in the 200 meter dash, crossing in 22.09 seconds. Damian Mackay-Morgan (Simsbury, Conn.) also came in second in the 110 meter hurdles, notching a time of 15.00.
The Pride will now wait and see who will qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, beginning on Thursday, March 23.
