Springfield, Mass. - October 5, 2019 - The Springfield College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over visiting Curry College on Saturday in non-conference action on Appleton Courts.
Springfield began the match with a strong showing in doubles play. Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) earned an 8-0 win at No. 3, Michael Kendrick (Albany, N.Y.) and Hieu Ton (Rocky Hill, Conn.) prevailed by an 8-2 score at No. 2, and Jack Wheeler (Irvine, Calif.) and Fabian Jensen (Stavanger, Norway) produced an 8-1 win at No. 1.
Kendrick kept the momentum up for the Pride with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3, while Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) delivered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. singles 4 for the hosts. Jensen earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2, Wheeler added a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at the No. 1 spot, while Greg Baker (Princeton, N.J.) registered a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5. Ton wrapped up the day with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 6 spot.
Springfield will host Endicott on Sunday at 12 pm in their next outing.
