Springfield, Mass. - September 26, 2019 - The Springfield College men's tennis team earned a 7-2 non-conference victory over Gordon on Wednesday afternoon on Appleton Courts.
The win evened the Pride's record to 2-2 on the season as the hosts earned five points in singles play and won a pair of doubles matches.
Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) and James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) were first off the courts with an 8-4 at No. 3 before Michael Kendrick (Albany, Conn.) and Hieu Ton (Rocky Hill, Conn.) later followed with an 8-5 win at No. 2 to give the Pride a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
Fabian Jensen (Stavanger, Norway) battled his way to a 6-2, 0-6, 10-8 win at the No. 2 spot, while Kendrick added a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Moffa cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph while playing at the No. 4 slot for Springfield, Greg Baker (Princeton, N.J.) addded a 6-0, 6-2 victory of his own at No. 5, and Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) cruised his way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
This weekend, Springfield will have student-athletes competing in both the ITA New England Regional Tournament and the International Tennis Hall of Fame Grass Tournament.
