MIT Topples Men's Swimming and Diving

Cambridge, Mass. - November 10, 2018 - Competing at MIT on Saturday afternoon, the Springfield College men's swimming and diving team dropped a 185-100 decision to the Engineers in  the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool.

In the 400 medley relay, Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), Anthony Soares (Worcester, Mass.), Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.), and Sean Mitchell (Canton, Mass.) clocked in with a 3:48.28.

Harnish posted a 1:49.97 in the 200 free and was third in the 500 free with a 5:02.59, Brendon Egan (Southington, Conn.) completed the 100 back in 1:00.98, while Mitchell posted a 1:06.84 in the 100 breast. 

Andy Endress (Belchertown, Mass.) sprinted the 50 free in 23.66 and Jensen delivered a 50.02 in the 100 free and a 54.15 in the 100 fly.  In the 200 back, Christopher Schreiner (Fairfield, Conn.) touched in 2:12.83, before he notched a 2:19.11 in the 200 IM.  Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.) finished the 200 breast in 2:24.89. 

Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) returned to the Springfield lineup and delivered a national-qualifing mark of 318.98 on the three-meter and took second on the one-meter with another qualifying score of 319.65. 

Jensen, Harnish, Endress, and Mitchell concluded the meet with a 1:32.17 in the 200 free relay. 

Springfield will compete again on Sunday when it hosts Babson.
