Indianapolis, Ind. - March 21, 2018 - In his first appearance on the national stage, Springfield College's Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) finished eighth on the three-meter board at the NCAA Division IIII Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday evening.
With his eighth-place finish, Pennington garnered All-America honors for the first time in his collegiate career. For Springfield, this marks the highest-finish for a men's diver on the three-meter at the NCAA's since Brian Sobel finished eighth in 2011.
In a field of 24 divers, Pennington was sixth after the prelims after totaling a score of 478.70. One of eight divers to advance to the championship finals, including one of just two freshman, Pennington produced a score of 446.15 to finish in eighth place and garner All-America accolades.
The Computer Graphics major will compete again on Friday on the one-meter board during the prelims, which commence at 10 am.
