Middlebury, Vt. - March 3, 2018 - Springfield College's Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) and Valmore Stewart (Windsor, Conn.) competed in the second day of the NCAA Division III North-Northeast Regional Championships, hosted at Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon. The duo competed on the three-meter board.
Pennington produce a score of 503.30 to take third overall in the event, while Stewart finished 17th in the competition with a score of 373.95. After a runner-up finish on the one-meter board on Friday night, combined with Pennington's third-place finish on the three-meter on Saturday, the freshman has qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
Union's Sam Hoyt won the event with a score of 544.45, while NYU's Connor Brisson took second with a 539.90. Following Pennington was Union's Matt Mintz (472.45) and Middlebury's Mike Chirico (456.45) rounding out the top five.
Pennington will be the lone representative of the Springfield College men's swimming and diving team to make the trip to Nationals, which will be hosted in Indianapolis, Ind. from March 22-24.
