Springfield, Mass. - November 17, 2017 - Standout freshman Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) earned first-place finishes in both diving events, but the Springfield College men's swimming and diving team fell to No. 12 Williams College, 185-99, on Friday night in the Art Linkletter Natatorium. Coming into Friday night's meet, Williams was ranked No. 12 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division III National Rankings.
On the three-meter board, Pennington notched a score of 322.66, before taking first on the one-meter board with a mark of 317.86.
Starting the meet with the 400 medley relay, the team of Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.), Tim DeCoste (Greenville, R.I.) and Sean Mitchell (Canton, Mass.) took third with a time of 3:42.81, while in the 1000 freestyle, Vladamir Burnin (Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad Oblast, Russia) took third with a time of 11:07.95. In the 100 backstroke, Christopher Schreiner (Fairfield, Conn.) took third with a time of 59.00, before Parsons clinched the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.87.
Springfield College took second and third in the 200 breaststroke, as Kyle Bauer (Bath, Maine) touched in 2:22.83 and was followed by Sam Fox (Warwick, R.I.), who touched in 2:45.37. From there, Parsons would finish as the runner up in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.76, while the team of Parsons, Nicholas Smith (Longmeadow, Mass.), Mitchell and Harnish would finish third in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:29.60.
Next, the Pride will hit the road to Norton, Mass. on Saturday, November 18, when it will compete in a tri-meet with Keene State and Wheaton College at 1 p.m.
