Army Pulls Out 395-350-373.300 Victory Over Men's Gymnastics

West Point, N.Y. - March 9, 2019 -The Springfield College men's gymnastics team dropped a 395.350-373.300 setback at Army on Saturday afternoon.
Four student-athletes competed in the all-around competition, and Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) finished in third with a 75.650, while teammate Trevor Lamberton (Willow Spring, N.C.) totaled a 72.900 to finish in fourth.
Lamberton had a team-best score of 12.600 on the floor exercise, while Sean Turtle (East Amherst, N.Y) added a 12.300 as Springfield scored a 60.550 in the rotation. The Pride struggled on the pommel horse, managing a team score of 59.850, with Lewis notching a 12.700 and Jannik Haas (San Jose, Calif.) totaling a 12.400. On the rings, Lewis was credited with a 13.000 and John Rowbotham (Tyngsboro, Mass.) posted a 12.650.
The Pride's best rotation of the day came on the vault, as it combined for a 67.450, thanks to a 14.050 from Lewis and a 14.000 by Noah Candocia (Bradenton, Fla.). As he has for much of the season, Haas paced the Pride's efforts on the parallel bars with a season-best mark of 13.800 to win the event, and was closely followed by Lewis who tallied a 13.700. Kyle Lukaesko (Connellsville, Pa.) delivered a career-best performance on the horizontal bar with a 13.050 and Haas registered a 12.850.
Springfield will travel to Virginia next weekend and face off against host William & Mary and Army in a tri-meet starting at 1:00 pm.
