Men's Gymnastics Produces Season-Best Team Score in Dual-Meet Loss to William & Mary

Springfield, Mass. - February 4, 2018 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team produced a season-best 391.050, but fell to visiting William & Mary, as the Tribe notched a team-score of 398.200 in Blake Arena on Sunday afternoon.

There were four student-athletes in the all-around competition, as Springfield College's Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) earned the top spot with a score of 79.100, while he was followed by Joshua Dieker (Oviedo, Fla.) with a 77.850. Rounding out the top three was Chris Graff (Old Bridge, N.J.), who posted a 77.500.

Leading the Pride off in the floor exercise, Graff registered a team-high score of 13.450, finishing third overall in the event, as he was followed by Matt Koy (Parlin, N.J.), who posted a 13.300 and Lewis, who tallied a 13.150. Next, on the pommel horse, Graff once again led the Pride with a 13.100, while Jannik Haas (San Jose, Calif.) registered a 12.900.

Moving to their third rotation, the rings, Graff once again posted the Pride's highest score of 13.750, just edging Dieker and Lewis, who both recorded scores of 13.500. Next, on vault, Lewis' score of 13.900 was Springfield's best, while he was followed by Trevor Lamberton (Willow Spring, N.C.), who posted a 13.300 and Dieker, who tallied a 13.050.

On the parallel bars, Haas posted a team-best score of 13.850, while the junior was followed by Lewis' 13.450 and Graff's 13.100. Rounding out the Pride's top four was Mike Grimaldi (Middletown, N.J.), who finished with a 13.000. Lastly, on the horizontal bar, Phil Ordonez (Jacksonville, Fla.) was Springfield College's top performer with a 13.350, while Haas used a brand new dismount to notch a 13.100. 

Next up, Dieker will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in the Winter Cup from February 15-17, while the Pride will host University of Illinois-Champagne and Temple on Sunday, February 18 at 1 p.m.
