Year: 1st Season

Sam Leal will begin his first season with the Springfield College men's basketball program as an assistant coach for the 2017-2018 academic year. After earning his Bachelor's degree in 2014 from the University of Maine at Farmington, Leal will be working towards his Master's degree in Exercise Science and Sports Studies while assisting head coach Charlie Brock.

As a member of the University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team, Leal was a two-year captain, and helped lead his team to a regular season championship during the 2012-2013 campaign as the squad racked up 21 wins.  As a senior in 2013-2014, Leal guided UMF to the North Atlantic Conference championship game. Prior to his arrival on Alden Street, Leal was an assistant coach at the University of Southern Maine during the 2014-15 season, and has been involved with the New England Colonials. Leal has also been the Director of Oceanside Hoop Camp in York, Maine for four years.
