Springfield, Mass. - November 6, 2019 - For the second-consecutive season, Springfield College's Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) was named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America First Team as he prepares to kick off his senior campaign with the Pride.
Ross was one of five student-athletes selected to the first team, and one of 25 student-athletes to earn the preseason all-america recognition. Additionally, Ross was one of just two student-athletes from New England to earn the preseason national attention. At the end of last season, Ross was tabbed to the the D3hoops.com All-America Third Team and is the only student-athlete in program history to garner multiple national honors from D3hoops.com.
In 23 games last season, the Recreation Management major averaged 23.8 points per contest in helping a Springfield squad reach the NEWMAC Championship Semifinals. The junior shot 44% from the field, connecting on 183-of-418 field goal attempts, and was especially efficient from the charity stripe, knocking down 88% of his attempts, going 137-for-155. He also pulled in 303 rebounds, handed out 92 assists, and totaled 39 steals.
Through three seasons with the Pride, Ross has scored 1,906 points, which ranks third most in program history, and has also registered 736 rebounds, 305 assists, and 157 steals. He enters his senior campaign as the active Division III career leader in points scored and ranks second in all of college basketball in career scoring average among active players with 23.8 points per game.
Springfield will open the 2019-20 season in Blake Arena on Friday night when it hosts cross-town rival Western New England at 7 pm.
