Wayne Rodrigues will enter his 30th year as an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Sports Studies / Certified Athletic Trainer at Springfield College during the 2017-18 academic year. Rodrigues is currently serving as the Coordinator of Sports Injury Rehabilitation, a role he has assumed since 1993. Here, Rodgrigues develops and directs a multi-disciplinary sports injury Rehabilitation clinic that services the needs of injured athletes. He also instructs athletic training related courses and presently teaches Emergency and Medical Response and Pathology and Medical Conditions. He also coordinates all sports injury rehabilitation and provides athletic health care for the football program.
Prior to his arrival at Springfield, Rodrigues was an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and a Head Athletic Trainer at Dean Junior College in Franklin, Mass. from 1985-87. Before that, he was a Head Athletic Trainer at Queensborough Communicty College in Bayside, N.Y., where he provided athletic health care services for 10 varsity teams.
Rodrigues has had a plethora of Continuing Education and Professional Development experiences, including most recently the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts conference, the National Athletic Trainer's Association annual meeting, the 24th Annual Athletic Training Student Senior Symposium, and the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association annual meeting and symposium.
