Springfield, Mass. - June 11, 2019 - Twelve members of the Springfield College men's and women's track and field teams were recognized for their outstanding performances during the outdoor season, as they each earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region accolades.
Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team. A total of 1915 honors were handed out to athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions, which included a near-even split between men's (951) and women's programs (964).
From the women's program, both Caroline Hitchcock (Agawam, Mass.), who was a national qualifier and All-American in the women's high jump in 2019, finished ranked No. 2 in the region, as she was followed by Chloe Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.), who finished the regular season ranked No. 5 in the event and also earned All-Region honors. In the women's shot put, Mikaela LoPriore (Niantic, Conn.) once again earned All-Region honors, as she finished her junior season ranked in the top five in New England.
Wrapping up honors from the women's team was Carley Moyher (Killingworth, Conn.), who was also a national qualifier and All-American in the javelin throw, as she took eighth at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet, and finished the regular season ranked No. 3 in New England.
The eight student-athletes that earned All-Region accolades from the men's squad was highlighted by Tyler Hansen (Shelton, Conn.) as the 2019 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Track Athlete of the Year earned regional accolades in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and 4x100 meter relay.
Also joining Hansen as being honored for their efforts in the 4x100 meter relay was Eric McCracken (Gales Ferry, Conn.), DeShaun Dias (Mashpee, Mass.) and Ben Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine). At the end of the regular season, Hansen was No. 1 in New England in the 100 meter dash, No. 1 in the 200 meter dash, and the 4x100, which finished the season ranked No. 3 in the region.
Earning All-Region honors in the 110 meter hurdles was Damian Mackay-Morgan (Simsbury, Conn.), as he finished the regular season ranked No. 5 in the event, while in the long jump, Jarod Authier (Chicopee, Mass.) earned All-Region honors after finishing ranked No. 5 in New England.
Lastly, the two national qualifiers from Springfield College in the men's triple jump, Josh Silvester (Manchester, Conn.) and Evan Tryon (New London, Conn.) were also recognized with regional accolades, as Tryon was No. 3 in New England, followed by Silvester, who was ranked No. 4.
