Williamstown, Mass. - September 24, 2016 - The Springfield College women's cross country team recorded a top-20 finish at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday afternoon, a meet hosted by Williams College. The Pride posted 567 points on the 6k course, as it placed 19th overall in a field of 22 teams.
Leading the Pride was the impressive performance of senior Marie Harrington (Limerick, Maine), who was the first from Springfield College to cross the finish line, and recorded a time of 24:58.5. Following suit, classmate Sarah Skillin (Fall River, Mass.) finished second on the team with a time of 25:41.2, while sophomore Rachael Seymour (Red Hook, N.Y.) was third with 25:57.9.
Crossing fourth for the Pride was sophomore Macayla LaChance (Peabody, Mass.), with a time of 26:55.5, while she was followed by senior Chelsea Dubin (Holliston, Mass.) with a time of 26:55.8, sophomore Hannah Wunderlich (Methuen, Mass.) with a time of 26:58.4, and junior Emily Giardino (Bellingham, Mass.) with a time of 26:59.7.
Up next, the Pride will compete in the Early Invitational in Westfield, Mass. on Saturday, October 1.
