Springfield, Mass. - April 14, 2018 - The Springfield College women's track and field team competed at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational this past weekend, as the Pride took ninth overall with 46.5 points.
On Friday night, Abigail Murdock (Westerly, R.I.) finished the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.31, while in the 1500 meter run, Kristen Madeia (Berlin, Conn.) took 10th with a time of 4:47.29. Hannah Wunderlich (Methuen, Mass.) also raced in the 5000 meter run and clocked in at 19:24.16.
Kicking Saturday off, Courtney Luscier (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.36 seconds, while Madeia continued her strong weekend with a time of 2:18.83 to qualify for the Division III New England Championships in the event. Katherine Strain (Longmeadow, Mass.) was 10th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.08 seconds, while in the field events, Caroline Hitchcock (Agawam, Mass.) tied for second as she cleared 1.64 meters. Following Hitchcock was Taylor Nogiec (Berlin, Conn.), who was fourth clearing 1.59 meters, while Strain was fifth clearing 1.59 meters as well.
Freshman Jaime Jax (Brooklyn, Conn.) took seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.74 meters, while Alexandra Pratt (Pawcatuck, Conn.) was second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.70 meters. Mikaela LoPriore (Niantic, Conn.) was eighth in the shot put with a heave of 11.37 meters, before finishing 17th in the discus with a mark of 30.08 meters. Wrapping up the meet, Sam Liberty (Pascoag, R.I.) was second in the javelin with a toss of 37.52 meters.
The Pride will now return home to the Blake Track on Saturday, April 21 as it will host the Springfield College Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m.
