Women's Track and Field in Fourth After Day One of Ramapo Invitational

Mahwah, N.J. - March 30, 2018 - The Springfield College women's track and field team began competition at the Ramapo Invitational on Friday afternoon, a 17-team meet hosted at Ramapo College, and is currently in fourth place with 13 points. 

Springfield College is tied with Ramapo for fourth trails Vassar with 20 points, NJIT with 17 and Rutgers-Newark with 14 points.

Leading the Pride off was Kristen Madeia (Berlin, Conn.) in the 5000 meter race, as the junior took second with a time of 18:29.50. Finishing next for Springfield was Rachel Wentnick (Metuchen, N.J.), who clocked in at 19:40.61, just ahead of Hannah Wunderlich (Methuen, Mass.), who finished in 19:42.68. 

Junior Mikaela LoPriore (Niantic, Conn.) was sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.57 meters, while Maria Travascio (Swampscott, Mass.) was eighth with a mark of 34.81 meters. Marcie LaRiccia (Lebanon, Maine ) was 10th with 33.74 meters. LoPriore was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.49 meters, while Travascio was 12th with a distance of 8.53 meters. LaRiccia was 14th with 8.48 meters.

Springfield College will resume action on Saturday, March 31 in the second day of the Ramapo Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m.
