Women's Track and Field Competes at Division III New England Championships

Williamstown, Mass. - May 6, 2017 - Senior Carly Markos (Wallkill, N.Y.) continued her impressive outdoor season, as she claimed a Division III New England Championship in the hammer throw to lead the Springfield College women's track and field team this weekend at Williams College.

The Pride placed 13th overall with 18 points.

Markos posted a heave of 170 feet, 10 inches, to finish first overall, as the senior also took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 0.5 inches. 

Also impressive on the day was junior Courtney Luscier (Pittsfield, Mass.), as she took fifth overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.22 seconds, before taking 10th in the 200, finishing in 25.53. Freshman Kathryn Rowe (Mansfield, Mass.) also raced well in the 200, as she took 13th with a time of 25.72 seconds.

The Pride will return to Williams on Friday, May 12 when it competes in the All New England Championships.
