Middlebury, Vt. - March 3, 2018 - Springfield College's Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) and Bailee Carey (Quincy, Mass.) wrapped up the 2018 NCAA Division III North-Northeast Diving Regional Championships, hosted at Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon. Skaza's performance on the weekend was good enough to earn her a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. from March 22-24.
Competing on the one-meter board, Skaza produced a score of 393.60 to take 11th overall, while Carey came in at 24th with her score of 326.15. MIT's Blake Zhou won the meet with a score of 440.50, while Wellesley's Maura Sticco-Ivins took second with a mark of 427.15. MIT's Deborah Wen (426.30) and Dolly Payne (424.60) took third and fourth, respectively, while Amherst's Lindsey Ruderman rounded out the top five with a score of 421.35.
After qualifying for Nationals, Skaza will now join teammates Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.) and Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) out in Indianapolis, Ind. for the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which will begin on Thursday, March 22.
