Women's Swimming and Diving Wins Seven Events But Falls to Holy Cross, 167-133

Springfield, Mass. - January 27, 2018 - Graduate student Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) and junior Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) combined for five individual victories, but the Springfield College women's swimming and diving team fell to Holy Cross, 167-133, on Saturday afternoon in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.

Dyjak cleaned up the 50 freestyle (25.04), 100 freestyle (54.08) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.09), while Paione won the 200 freestyle (1:57.53) and the 500 freestyle (5:20.86) in the setback. Additionally Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) took the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:58.96 while Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:31.44. 

Freshman Hillary Gallagher (Exeter, R.I.) finished third overall in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.30, while in the 100 breaststroke, Shea was second, touching in 1:09.57. Danielle Hoffner (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished third in the 200 butterfly, touching in 2:16.99, while in the 200 individual medley, Paione placed second with a time of 2:14.73. Lastly, in the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Dyjak, Magee, Cordery and Paione took second overall with a combined time of 3:43.09.

Up next, Springfield College will hit the road and compete in the Middlebury Invitational on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3.
