Ithaca, N.Y. - December 3, 2017 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team placed fifth overall at the Ithaca College Invitational, as the Pride wrapped up the three-day meet on Sunday afternoon at the Aquatics Pavilion.
The Pride, which accumulated 814.5 points finished behind Cornell University, which won the meet with 2209 points, as SUNY Geneseo took second with 1202.5 points, Rochester (870) and Ithaca College (820), which took fourth overall.
Kicking off the final session, Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) took seventh overall in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:01.54, while in the 100 freestyle, Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) took third with a time of 52.50 seconds. Next, in the 200 backstroke, Hillary Gallagher (Exeter, R.I.) finished 10th with a time of 2:12.53, while in the 200 breaststroke, Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.) notched a second-place finish with a time of 2:23.02.
Wrapping up the meet with the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine), Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.), Brianna Magee (Happauge, N.Y.) and Dyjak finished second overall with a combined time of 3:33.72.
On the three-meter board, Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) continued her strong weekend as she took fifth overall with a score of 435.10.
Up next, the Pride will return to the pool on Saturday, December 9 as it will travel to Middlebury College.
