Medeiros Finishes Fourth In 100 Breast At NCAA Championships to Earn All-America Honors

Shenandoah, Texas - March 17, 2017 - For the second-straight year, Springfield College's Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke to earn All-America honors at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium on Friday.

The Physical Therapy major entered the competition with the eighth-fastest qualifying time in Division III this year, a 1:03.09, which she recorded when she won the event at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on February 18.

In the morning prelims, Medeiros finished second in the final heat with a time of 1:02.98, which proved to be the fifth fastest time of the session, as she secured a spot in the championship final.  Racing in lane two of the championship final, the senior produced a time of 1:02.69 to finish fourth and garner All-America honors.

Competing on the national stage for the fourth-straight year, Medeiros previously placed fifth in the 100 breast in 2015 and fourth in 2016.  She will compete in the 200 breast on Saturday morning, an event in which she finished sixth in last season.
