Shehandoah, Texas - March 16, 2017 - Springfield College's Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) raced in her first of three events at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium on Thursday morning.
Competing on the national stage for the fourth-straight season, the Physical Therapy major took to the pool on Thursday morning to compete in the 100 fly, where her qualifying time of 59.99 allowed her to be an optional entry in the event. In the prelims, Medeiros shaved over two seconds off her time to post a 57.56.
Medeiros will now turn her focus to her speciality, the breaststoke events. The senior will compete in the 100 breast on Friday, an event in which she enters the competition with the eighth-fastest qualifying time, a 1:03.99. Last year, Medeiros closed hard in the final 50 to power her way to a fourth-place finish, in a new school record time of 1:02.45, en route to All-America honors.
