Middlebury Edges Women's Swimming and Diving, 132-111

Springfield, Mass. - December 10, 2016 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team was edged by Middlebury College, 132-111, on Saturday afternoon in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.

The Pride was paced by a pair of tremendous performances from Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) and Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine).  Medeiros was victorious in the 200 IM with a 2:15.81, took first in the 100 fly in 1:00.64, and won the 100 breast after a 1:06.54, while Paione took first in the 200 free after touching in 1:58.21, as well as the 100 free with a 55.14.

In the diving events, Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) claimed first-place points on both board , registering a winning score of 266.78 on the one-meter and cruising to a win on the three-meter with a 257.55.

Mikayla Rogers (Warwick, R.I.) was second in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:11.88, Mackenzie Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was the runner up in the 100 back after producing a time of 1:04.46, while Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) also took second in the 500 free with a 5:23.12

Springfield closed out the meet finishing second in the 200 free relay thanks to a time of 1:43.93 from Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.), Monique Forte (Smithfield, R.I.), Nolan, and Paoine. 

The Pride will compete again on January 7 when it hosts Hartwick and Union for a 12 pm tri-meet.
