Northampton, Mass. - November 8, 2016 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team earned a midweek victory at Smith College on Tuesday evening by a 170-130 score in Dalton Pool.
Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) sprinted to a win in the 50 free with a 25.67 and was victorious in the 200 breast after touching in 2:37.35, while Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) claimed first-place points after registering a 4:50.30 in the 400 IM.
Springfield had the top three finishers in the 100 breast, with Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.) taking first in 1:09.42, and Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.) placed second in the 100 fly with a 1:05.13 and the 100 back in 1:04.85.
Lauren Longley (Westfield, Mass.) touched first in the 500 free in 5:32.64 and was the runner up in the 200 fly after posting a 2:20.53. In the 1,000 free, Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) outdistanced the field to a win in 11:17.42, and Natalie Waechter (Ventura, Calif.) won the 200 free in 2:04.84.
In the diving events, Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) took third on both boards, tallying a 229.90 on the one-meter and a 222.30 on the three-meter.
Springfield closed out the meet by easing its way to victory in the 400 free relay as Paione, Forte, Kate O'Connor (Manchester, Conn.), and Cordery combined for a time of 3:48.57.
The Pride will compete again on November 19 when it hosts Keene State and Wheaton as part of its 100 Year Celebration of Swimming and Diving at Springfield College.
