Women's Swimming and Diving Races Against MIT and Wellesley

Cambridge, Mass. - November 6, 2016 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team competed against Wellesley and MIT in a tri-meet with New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foes on Sunday afternoon.

Springfield bested Wellesley by a 180-144 score, and dropped a 229-71 decision to MIT.

Highlighting the day for the Pride was Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.), who won the 200 breast after finishing in 2:24.80  Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) had a very strong meet as she placed second in the 200 IM with 2:15.26, finished third in the 200 free with a 1:59.87, and also took third in the 500 free after posting a 5:26.30.

Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 100 breast after registering a 1:10.19, while in the 1,000 free Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.) touched third in 11:10.06.

In the diving events, Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) took third on both boards, tallying a a 238.20 on the one-meter and a 231.60 on the three-meter.

Springfield will compete again on Tuesday when it travels to face Smith at 7 pm.
