  • Women's Soccer Claims Second-Straight ECAC Division III Championship Over NYU

    Springfield, Mass. - November 19, 2017 - For the second-consecutive season, the Springfield College women's soccer team and NYU met in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship, and for the second-consecutive season the contest went into a decisive penalty-kick shootout, as the Pride defeated the Violets, 3-0, to claim its second ECAC title in as many years on Sunday afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.

The penalty kick shootout victory advanced the maroon and white to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Semifinals, where it will take on top-seeded MIT at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning in Cambridge.

With the loss, the Pride is now 12-4 on the year and 5-3 in league play. The win lifts MIT to an impressive 16-1-0 overall record and an unblemished 8-0-0 against conference opponents.
