Springfield, Mass. - November 7, 2016 - Holding an overall record of 11-5-4, the Springfield College women's soccer program earned the overall top seed in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The championship field will be broken out into four regions for first-round play beginning on Saturday, Nov. 12. Springfield College's Brock-Affleck Field will serve as the host side for the Region 1 Championship, where the Pride will take on fourth-seeded Curry College on Saturday, November 12 at 11 a.m.

In the other regional semifinal, second-seeded Salve Regina will host third-seeded Maine Maritime on Brock-Affleck Field at 2 p.m.

Springfield College, which is unbeaten in 10 of its last 12 contests, earned the top spot in the tournament due to an impressive 2016, where the Pride picked up an important 1-0 win over nationally-ranked Amherst College in the early stages of the season. Attempting to become the second women's soccer program in the history of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to win five-consecutive conference championships, the Pride was knocked out of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament after suffering a 1-0 double-overtime loss to WPI in the semifinals.

The Pride will take on Curry College in the first round on Saturday, as the Colonels finished the season 11-8-2, and were knocked out of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship when it lost to Gordon College, 1-0, in the semifinals. The other game in the first round will feature Salve Regina, which is 8-8-3, and Maine Maritime, which is 9-6-2 on the year.
