Boston, Mass. - October 15, 2016 - The Springfield College women's soccer team fell in overtime to Emerson College, 1-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field.
With the loss, Springfield College falls to 7-4-2 overall, and 3-2-2 in NEWMAC play, while the Lions are now 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the league. The Pride held an 18-7 shot advantage in the contest, as the Pride was awarded two corner kicks to the Lions' one.
Junior goalkeeper Ciara Boucher (Manchester, Conn.) made two stops in the setback, while her counterpart, Melanie Escobar (Torrington, Conn.) posted nine saves on the afternoon.
After a scoreless 90 minutes of play, it only took 4:02 into the first overtime period for Emerson College to find the back of the net, as Paige Haley (San Diego, Calif.) finished a chance set up by Elizabeth Noble (Long Beach, Calif.) in the 95th minute to lift the Lions to a 1-0 victory.
