Roanoke, Va. - March 8, 2019 - Springfield College's Ian Tolotti (Dumont, N.J.) competed on the national stage at the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Friday in the Berglund Center.
The Sports Biology major qualified for the national tournament after he placed third at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regionals, and represented Springfield at the NCAA's for the first time in his career.
Entering the day with a 23-6 record, Tolotti clashed with Baldwin Wallace's Charles Nash in his first match of the day. Nash was able to escape early in the second period and racked up 1:33 in riding time in the third period en route to the 2-0 decision.
Tolotti then benefitted from a medical forfeit from Ricky Cavallo of Johns Hopkins to advance to the next round of the consolation bracket, where he was matched up against Taylor `Ki Dial from Merchant Marine. With the winner advancing to Saturday's action, Tolotti was clipped by a 2-1 decision to have his competition come to a close.
