Sarnacki and Stone Garner IWLCA Women's Lacrosse All-Region Honors

Springfield, Mass. - May 21, 2019 - Sophomore attacker Kate Sarnacki (Granby, Mass.) and senior defender Andie Stone (Burlington, Conn.) of the Springfield College women's lacrosse team have been recognized for their impressive 2019 seasons, as the duo earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region honors, announced on Monday afternoon.

Springfield College has now had 15 student-athletes earn IWLCA All-Region honors in the last five seasons, as there have also now been 23 student-athletes that have earned regional accolades under the direction of head coach Kristen Mullady in her first 10 years at the helm of the maroon and white.

Both Sarnacki and Stone earned Second Team All-Berkshire Region honors after leading the Pride to a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.

Sarnacki, a sophomore attacker and Sports Biology major at Springfield College, had a record-breaking season for the Pride, collecting 92 points on 62 goals and 30 assists. Sarnacki's 92 points this season is a program record for the maroon and white, as she surpassed the previous record of 87 points which was posted by Shelby Corsano in 2018. Sarnacki was instrumental in leading the Pride to its fourth NEWMAC title in the last eight seasons as her six points fueled Springfield College to an 11-10 victory over Babson in the championship contest.

For her efforts throughout the 2019 regular season, Stone was honored as the NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with Babson's Mairead Williams. This marked the first Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year honor for the Pride since Gabby Anderson collected the honor in 2017, as Springfield College has now had six student-athletes earn Player of the Year honors dating back to 2006. Stone, a recent graduate of Springfield College earning a Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Sciences, led the team in caused turnovers with 40, while also picking up 53 ground balls and six draw controls.

Sarnacki and Stone are now eligible for IWLCA All-America honors, which will be aired on the Lax Sports Network in mid-June.
