Boston, Mass. - April 18, 2017 - Springfield College's Ann Mahoney (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) of the women's lacrosse team was recognized for her impressive performances against Westfield State and Wheaton, as she was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Mahoney, a junior midfielder and Occupational Therapy major at Springfield College, was instrumental in a pair of wins for the Pride last week, as she collected 17 draw controls, eight ground balls, caused five turnovers and registered three points. Mahoney secured a career-best 10 draw controls in a 14-9 win over Westfield State on Wednesday, before registering seven in Springfield's win over Wheaton on Saturday. Against Wheaton, Mahoney also scored a goal, had an assist, caused five turnovers and picked up five ground balls.
Up next, Mahoney and the Pride will travel to Smith College on Wednesday, April 19 and will take on the Pioneers at 6 p.m.
