Brockport, N.Y. - January 28, 2017 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics program suffered a dual-meet setback to The College at Brockport, 190-975-184.200 on Saturday afternoon in upstate New York.
Brockport, which posted its highest team score of the season, had the top finisher in all four events, but senior Marissa DeAngelo (Brookfield, Conn.) was able to take the all-around competition with a score of 37.100, while Jessica Clemens (South Setauket, N.Y.) finished the all-around with a score of 35.275.
On vault, Springfield College was led by DeAngelo, who posted a team-best score of 9.575, while Madi Bowen (Sunderland, Mass.) was not far behind with a score of 9.550. Clemens and Nicole Silva (Barrington, R.I.) tied with matching scores of 9.475, while freshman Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) and Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) rounded out the rotation with scores of 9.450 and 9.300, respectively.
On the uneven bars, DeAngelo was the Pride's top finisher once again, as she registered a 9.250, and was followed closely by Jackson, who notched a 9.175. Additionally, freshman Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) posted a 9.000 on her routine. On the balance beam, Springfield College got another solid performance from Murphy, who scored a career-best 9.425, while Jackson finished with a 9.325 and Silva a 9.100.
Lastly, in the floor exercise, the Pride was led by Twomey, who nailed an impressive 9.550, while she was followed by DeAngelo, who posted a 9.475. Bowen was also strong as her routine scored a 9.325, and Clemens registered a 9.275.
Up next, Springfield College will travel to SUNY Cortland on February 5 for a 1 p.m. dual meet with the Red Dragons.
