Springfield, Mass. - January 22, 2018 - Springfield College's Alex Goslin (South Windsor, Conn.) and Gracie Restituyo (Barrington, R.I.) of the women's basketball team were recognized for their standout play last week as the duo collected New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball weekly honors.
For the first time this season, Alex Goslin was named the NEWMAC Women's Basketball Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Restituyo was tabbed the NEWMAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time during the 2017-18 campaign.
Goslin, a sophomore guard and Math/Secondary Education double major at Springfield College, was phenomenal in two games for the Pride this week as she averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 87.5% from the charity stripe and 50% from the field. In a 71-63 loss at Wesleyan, Goslin had 16 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists before coming back and leading the Pride to a 63-56 win over Babson, totaling 15 points, three assists and two rebounds.
Restituyo, a junior forward and Sports Biology major at Springfield College, helped the Pride to a 1-1 week as she averaged 10.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Restituyo posted 11 points and seven rebounds in a 71-63 loss to Wesleyan before coming back on Saturday and helping Springfield College to a 63-56 win over Babson, totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season.
Next, Springfield College will host WPI at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, before hitting the road to take on Emerson on Saturday, January 27 at 1 p.m.
