DeVaux Finishes 10th In NCAA Championships Debut In The Javelin

Geneva, Ohio - May 25, 2017 - Springfield College's Whit DeVaux (Wethersfield, Conn.) made his debut on the national stage in the javelin at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute.

The Recreation Management major finished 10th out of the 20-competitor field after he posted a distance of 59.73 (195-11) while throwing in the second flight.  DeVaux's best throw came on his firstattempt of the evening. 

A two-sport standout at Springfield as he is also the punter on the football team, DeVaux was the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), ECAC, and New England Division III Champion in the event this spring.  The junior enterted the competition as the fourth seed with a qualifying mark of 65.38 meters.
