Springfield, Mass. - January 28, 2017 - Led by another record-breaking performance by Brad Deckel (Lansdale, Pa.), the Springfield College men's track and field program competed in the Massasoit Classic on Saturday afternoon in a non-scoring meet with Amherst, Trinity, ECSU, Westfield State and Lehman.
A week removed for setting a new school record in the indoor pole vault that had stood since 1972, Deckel added another six inches to his record after producing a leap of 15 feet, 5 inches.
Sophomore Jason Laramee (Great Barrington, Mass.) once claimed first place for Springfield in the men's high jump, leaping 6 feet 4 inches. In the 60 meter dash, Deshaun Dias (Mashpee, Mass.) crossed the finish line first in a winning time of 7.17 and later took fourth in the 200 with a time of 23.49.
Next weekend, Springfield will head north to compete in the Dartmouth Classic in Hanover, N.H.
