Top-Seeded MIT Bests Men's Tennis, 5-0, In NEWMAC Championship Semifinals

Cambridge, Mass. - May 6, 2017 - Competing in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Semifinals for the second-straight season, the Springfield College men's tennis team was bested by top-seeded MIT, 5-0.

Springfield College concluded its year with a 12-6 record, marking the most wins in program history since the 1992 season.

The Engineers prevailed in all three doubles matches, with Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) and Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) putting together the Pride's best effort at the top spot with an 8-5 setback. 

MIT needed to win just two singles matches to clinch, and Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) battled hard for the Pride before being edged 6-2, 6-3.
