Williamstown, Mass. - October 1, 2016 - The Springfield College men's tennis team had a very strong showing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's Regional Championships in both singles and doubles action over the weekend at Williams College.
Tanner DeVarennes (Lee, Mass.) earned a victory in singles play, delivering a 6-1, 6-2 win over Justin Kohut from Western New England before falling to ninth-seeded Oscar Burney of Amherst College, 6-1, 6-1. Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) bowed out in a first-round meeting with Nick Glover from Bates, 6-2, 6-0.
In the doubles draw, Romaine and Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) knocked off Colby's Cam Hillier and and Shaw Speer by an 8-6 decision. In their next outing, Honda and Romaine were bested by Glover and Josh Quijano from Bates, 8-3.
