Men's Swimming and Diving Places Seventh at Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 2, 2018 - After three days of competition, the Springfield College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the Ithaca Invitational in seventh place on Sunday.

Of the 11 teams in the competition, Springfield totaled 613 points during the weekend to finish in seventh.  Cornell eased their way to the win with 1,861 points, and was followed by SUNY Geneseo (1,206), Rochester (767), Nazareth (750.5), and Ithaca (678.5).

In the 1,650 free, Springfield's Nicholas Smith (Longmeadow, Mass.) delivered a time of 17:20.95 to start the morning off, while Sean Mitchell (Canton, Mass.) posted a 49.25 in the 100 free.  Christopher Schreiner (Fairfield, Conn.) completed the 200 back in a 2:05.18, while Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.) turned in a 2:13.10 in the 200 breast, finishing just ahead of teammate Anthony Soares (Worcester, Mass.), who swam a 2:13.87.

In the final race of the weekend, Springfield's 400 free relay team of Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.), Mitchell, Soares, and Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.) combined for a 3:14.39. 

The Pride will host Middlebury on Saturday at 1 pm in its final dual of the first semester.
