Men's Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Second Day of Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 1, 2018 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team concluded the second day of the Ithaca Invitational with several standout performances.

Of the 11 teams in the field, Cornell continued to grow its lead with 1,377 points, followed by SUNY Geneseo (898), Nazareth (558.5), Springfield (521), and Rochester (516). 

On the one-meter board, Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) finished in third after producing a score of 470.00, while teammate Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.) turned in a 409.55 en route to a sixth-place finish. 

Springfield's 200 free relay of Andy Endress (Belchertown, Mass.), Sean Mitchell (Canton, Mass.), Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), and Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.) swam a 1:29.35.

Harnish delivered a 1:45.25 to finish ninth in the 200 free and Jensen completed the 100 fly in 52.74 to place 12th.  The 400 medley team of Harnish, Anthony Soares (Worcester, Mass.), Jensen, annd Mitchell combined for a 3:36.95 to conclude the morning session.

In the evening portion of the competition, Jensen had a great race in the 200 fly, taking fourth in 1:54.33, while Harnish turned in a 54.31 in the 100 back to finish in 11th place.  Soares had the Pride's best time in the 100 breast with a 1:00.41, and the 800 free relay team of Jensen, Vladimir Burnin (Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad Oblast, Russia), Nick Smith (Longmeadow, Mass.), and Harnish closed out the night with a 7:09.56.
