Pennington Secures Second All-America Honor After Fifth-Place Finish On One-Meter Board

Indianapolis, Ind. - March 21, 2018 - Springfield College's Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) continued to shine in his first trip to the NCAA Division IIII Swimming and Diving Championships as he placed fifth on the one-meter board on Friday night.

With his fifth-place finish, Pennington garnered his second All-America recognition of the week after previously finishing eighth on the three-meter board on Wednesday.  For Springfield, this is best-finish for a men's diver on the one-meter at the national event since Brian Sobel finished third in 2011.

Among the 24 divers in the event, Pennington was third in the prelims after totaling a score of 503.15.  One of eight divers in the evening's championship finals, Pennington produced a score of 467.20 to take fifth place and garner All-America accolades. The Computer Graphics major was the top finishing freshman in the event, and became just the fifth Springfield College men's diver in program history to finish in the top eight on both boards at the NCAA Championships in the same year.
