Men's Swimming and Diving Bested By Hartwick and Union

Springfield, Mass. - January 7, 2017 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team hosted a tri-meet with Hartwick College and Union College on Saturday afternoon.  The Pride was defeated by Hartwick, 193-91, and Union, 195-87.

Springfield placed third in the 200 medley relay after Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.), Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.), Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), and Tim DeCoste (Greenville, R.I.) swam a 1:42.61. 

Indivdually, Von Heeringen had the Pride's top performances on the day, as he was victorious in both the 100 Back and 200 Back, with times of 55.96 and 2:00.26. Later in the day, Von Heeringen placed second in the 500 Free with a 4:57.91.  

Harnish had another solid performance in the 200 Fly, where he posted a 2:06.30 to finish third. In the 100 Fly, Harnish raced to another third place finish in 56.52. He was closely followed by Parsons, who garnered fourth with a time of 56.64. Parsons also performed well in the 200 Breast and took third with a 2:17.90

For the diving events, Valmore Stewart (Windsor, Conn.) finished third in both the 1 Meter and 3 Meter, after scoring 240.25 and 220.50.

Springfield will return to action when they host New York University at 1:00 pm next Saturday.
