Boston, Mass. - September 26, 2016 - Senior forward Luke Alvaro (Chicopee, Mass.) of the Springfield College men's soccer team has been recognized as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference offices on Monday morning.
Alvaro, a General Studies major at Springfield College, was impressive in a pair of wins for the Pride this past weekend. In a 5-0 win over Emerson, the senior tallied two goals, before leading the Pride to a 4-0 win over Keene State with an early goal in the second half. With three goals this weekend, Alvaro moved himself into the top spot in the NEWMAC in both goals (10) and points (22).
This week, Springfield College will host Southern Vermont on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday for a critical NEWMAC match with Clark.
